Survey Results on Remote Employee Productivity
In the January 2023 Snapshot Survey, we asked contractors about challenges they face with employees shifting to remote work. Here’s one survey question and its results from the summary report, which is available in it’s entirety by Contractor University members here.
How Has Working Remotely Affected the Productivity of Employees?
Our survey also explored the impact of remote work on employee productivity. Of the 57% of respondents who said they have remote positions, 20% reported a decrease in productivity since implementing remote work, while 32% reported that productivity had stayed the same. Interestingly, 5% reported an increase in productivity.
While some companies have reported a decrease in productivity, this must be balanced against the potential benefits of remote work, such as decreased overhead expenses and improved work-life balance, which may lead to happier and more productive employees in the long term.
Here’s what an HVAC contractor from New Jersey said in the survey:
“Prior to Covid, our company was set up with internet for our software and phones (VoIP). This made the transition very easy for our employees to be able to work from home and still be productive and still maintain customer service needs.”
